At LaClave Creative (“we,” “us,” “our”), we work hard to show products accurately. Because many items are made to order through a fulfillment partner network, a few normal variations can occur between on-screen previews and the final product. This page explains what to expect.
1) Made-to-Order and Fulfillment Partners
Many products are produced after you place an order (print-on-demand). Depending on the item, it may be made by different fulfillment partners and production locations. This can affect small details like color tone, fabric batch, and print texture.
2) Mockups and Listing Photos
Some images on our Site are digital mockups (computer-generated previews) created to show how a design may look on a product.
Mockups are a best-effort preview, not a guaranteed exact match for every detail.
In some mockup preview systems, colors may look different between “edit mode” and “preview mode” because previews are adjusted to reflect how designs might appear once printed.
3) Color Differences (Screen vs. Print vs. Product Color)
Color can vary for normal reasons:
Screens vary (brightness, calibration, color settings).
Printing varies slightly by method and material.
Garment/product color affects ink appearance. Some printing methods do not place certain inks on same-color areas (for example, dark ink on dark fabric or light ink on light fabric), and colors that are very close to the product color can appear less vibrant.
Tip: If your design relies on subtle color differences, choose product colors with stronger contrast.
4) Print Placement, Alignment, and Scale
Because items are produced on real products (not a flat digital canvas), these can vary slightly:
Print placement may shift a small amount.
All-over print (AOP) alignment can vary slightly from mockups due to how fabric is cut and assembled (seams, folds, stretch).
Design scaling by size: On some apparel, designs may be scaled down for smaller sizes to keep a consistent visual outcome.
5) Sizing and Measurement Tolerance
We provide size guides where available. Minor measurement differences can happen due to manufacturing tolerances and are not considered defects when they fall within typical ranges:
Many garments may vary by up to 1 inch (2.54 cm) from the size guide.
Some garments may vary by up to 1.5 inches (3.81 cm).
How to choose a size wisely
Use the size chart on the product page.
Measure a similar item you already own and compare it to the chart.
If you’re between sizes, sizing up is often the safer choice (especially for fitted styles).
6) Materials, Texture, and Finish
Product materials and finish can vary slightly by supplier batch and production method. Examples:
Fabric texture may feel slightly different across restocks.
Printed areas can have a different feel than unprinted areas (depending on printing method and ink coverage).
Some items may have minor, normal “handmade/production” characteristics.
7) What Counts as a “Defect” vs. Normal Variation
Normal variation (not a defect):
Small differences in color tone from screen to print
Slight print placement differences
AOP seam/alignment variance
Size variation within the allowed tolerance ranges
Defects (we’ll make it right under our Returns/Refunds/Replacements Policy):
Wrong item received
Clear misprint or major print quality issue
Manufacturing damage/defect beyond normal tolerance
Item damaged in transit
8) AI Label (When Relevant)
When a design involves AI as part of the creative process, we disclose it using our standard label:
“Designed with AI, handcrafted with final edits.”
