About

Where creativity meets calling.

LaClave Creative

What we make

  • Art that speaks: designs that combine typography and imagery so the message sticks.

  • Built to last: quality papers, inks, and garments—clean edges, sharp prints.

  • Gift-ready: straightforward sizing, protective packaging, and easy re-orders.

How we create

LaClave Creative uses a studio + print-on-demand model.

  • Studio: I concept, sketch, paint, refine typography, and finish artwork in-house.

  • Print-on-demand (POD): items are made after you order by trusted partners (like Printify/Printful) using quality materials and modern printing. This keeps waste low and quality high while giving you fresh, limited runs.

A note on AI in our process

You’ll sometimes see this label on product pages:

“Designed with AI, handcrafted with final edits.”

That means I used AI as a tool (like a digital brush) somewhere in concepting or texture development—and then personally finished, edited, and approved the final artwork. Pieces that are 100% artist-made (no AI) are labeled accordingly. Either way, I’m responsible for the art you receive.

The founder story

Where creativity meets calling. I’m Matthew LaClave, and I started LaClave Creative after telling my wife I felt capable of more—that I’d been sitting on gifts God gave me in art, writing, and speaking. I wanted to use those gifts to make a real difference and to help others do the same.

The name comes from a simple idea: LaClave—“the key”—and Creative—the new life we can unlock through making. My aim is to keep finding ways to open up creativity in myself and in the people I serve, especially professionals who want their spaces to speak encouragement and hope.

I’ve drawn since I was little, studied art in high school and college, trained as a Graphic Specialist in the U.S. Army, and worked professionally in graphic design. I’m a lifelong learner—the more I understand, the more tools I have to serve well (even that early Photoshop course shaped how I refine color, edges, and type today).

My style leans naturalistic, classic, and nostalgic. I love the black-and-gold look for its clean, professional feel—but some subjects must breathe in full color, and I honor that when it serves the piece.

Art student → Army Graphic Specialist → Professional designer → Lifelong learner

Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days.

Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.”
— Proverbs 19:20–21

What we believe

  • Creativity is a calling. Art should lift people higher, not just decorate.

  • Quality over quantity. Thoughtful catalogs, careful materials, clean craftsmanship.

  • Clarity builds trust. Straightforward copy, clear policies, honest labeling.

  • Responsibility matters. Made-to-order reduces waste; we publish the details that matter so you can buy confidently.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does “LaClave” mean?
“LaClave” is my last name, but it also means ‘The Key’ in an old French dialect. To me, it represents unlocking creativity, potential, and purpose — both in my own work and in the lives of others.

  • What is LaClave Creative?
LaClave Creative is where creativity meets calling. It’s a place where art, design, and encouragement come together to inspire professionals and everyday people to see their surroundings — and themselves — in a new light.

  • What kind of artwork do you create?
I create both traditional and AI-assisted art. Some pieces are 100% handcrafted, while others are designed with AI and refined by hand. Every work is finished with care, excellence, and authenticity — and marked with my label:
“Designed with AI, handcrafted with final edits” or “100% artist-made.”

  • What makes LaClave Creative different from other art brands?
Everything you see here is built with intention — from the designs to the words behind them. I don’t just want to sell art; I want to stir purpose. Each collection ties back to faith, growth, and the beauty of disciplined creativity.

  • Where are your products made and shipped from?
All products are printed on demand (POD) through professional print partners. That means every order is created specifically for you — no mass production, no warehouses. It’s made when you order, inspected, and shipped straight to your door.

  • Do you offer custom artwork or commissions?
Occasionally, yes — especially if it aligns with the heart of the brand. If you have a meaningful concept or space in mind, reach out through the Contact page and let’s talk.

  • Do you sell digital downloads or only physical products?
Right now, my focus is on high-quality, tangible products — prints, apparel, home décor, and office inspiration. But digital options may come later for those who want instant creative encouragement.

  • What does your tagline mean — “Live Creative. Work Creative. Be Creative.”?
It’s more than a motto — it’s a lifestyle. Creativity isn’t just for artists. It’s a way of approaching life with curiosity, discipline, and faith. Whether you’re solving problems, building a business, or raising a family, creativity is the key that unlocks potential.

  • How can I stay updated on new releases?
Join my email list for early access to new collections, behind-the-scenes looks, and creative encouragement. I don’t flood inboxes — I share what’s real, useful, and uplifting.

  • How can I support your work beyond purchasing?
Simple: share it. Tell a friend about a piece that inspired you, tag LaClave Creative when you post it, or drop a review on the site. Every bit of support helps spread creativity and encouragement further.
